Default Bloomington Area Fishing

Hi Everyone

I'm new to the area and looking for some info on some local fishing spots around Bloomington/Normal. I've been up to Lake Bloomington, Evergreen, and Moraine View SP, but haven't gotten to do any fishing.

I don't have a boat, nor access to one, so I'm looking for tips on good spots to hit from the shore. I've read a lot of the articles in this section, but most seem to assume boat fishing.

Also, tips on what seems to work in the area lakes.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome Shakey.

I just graduated last year from ISU. I was a shore bound angler for most of my time there, but still found some pretty good fishin.

Evergreen lake, and Dawson Lake (Moraine View State Park) are excellent places to start.

Once you get to 10 posts, PM me, and I will give you a few of my old favorite spots, and honeyholes.

Just do me a favor, if you Bass fish, practice CPR. I would like to still be able to enjoy my secret honeyholes when I come back to visit town.

You're gonna have to get permission from blu to fish any of those shore spots. Better get it in writing cause you'll never understand it verbally.

I figured the guy hasn't been to the lakes since Feb 1st.
All the spots are being fished. Even spots that are not spots.
Lot of people appear to be fishing for their next meal too.

Try the lake just to the east of Heartland Community College on Raab road. Ive caught some decent bass there when I lived in Normal. Soft plastics are usually good, and spinners when its not weedy.

I moved here recently from out west. Luckily I live on North Pointe Lake so I've been fishing there. However, I want to try some more local spots and try this crappie fishing everyone is talking about. I'm a shore angler. So did you manage to try any of the recommendations?
