Rend Lake is a great place to bowfish especially below the spillway. Just can't figure out why someone would send all day trying to catch a bass or two when I could fill a couple of boats full of garden grower.

Bowfishing eh? I've seen people out there doing it but have never given it a try for myself. How do you like to go after them? I know that Rend is also extremely good for channels and especially flatheads. Im still a bass fisherman through and through!

Logan,
Thanks for the great info. I have always struggled at Rend and I will try some of your suggestions. If you are ever fishing Lake of Egypt let me know- I can give you a few spots. Paul

Default Lake of Egypt

Paul...yeah i would like to know what you like at Egypt. I fish a lot with a guy that lives near Rend named Cyril Bowlin(fished the bassmasters classic in 1993). He has talkin me to just about every lake or pond down there but I would love to hear more about other's techniques because I will admit I posted a goose egg when I went to Egypt. I fished the warmer end of the lake because it was about 25 degrees and ice was forming on the eyelits of the rod so it was not a good day. But yeah....I get down there all the time in the summer so please tell me some of your ideas!

Hey loganbassmaster, I took out Cyril Bowlin a few time and had a great time at Rend lake. The last time I try to set up with him he said that he don't guide any more because of his illness. I was wondering if he has got any better with the headache. Hope so , he a lot of fun to have as a guide down there.

Default "CB"

Zaraspook....sorry to say, good old Cyril "CB" isnt doing any better. He no longer guides either. He hasnt taken out a client in almost 2 years. I am lucky enough to get to go fishing with him when he is feeling decently because he is a close friend of mine. But yeah, he is definitely the best when it comes to knowledge of that lake! NOBODY knows the spots better than he does and he is just a great all around person.

Thanks for insite loganbassmaster. Thats to bad and yes he is the best at that lake. The next time you see him tell Scott and the chicago boys say hi. I was really hoping that he was getting better but the last time I talk to him he told me thats there is nothing the docs. can do and thats to bad. I always had a good time with him and was hoping to do it again. Sure hope that they can fix the problem so we could throw some lines with him again.
