Default Kentucky Lake ledge Fishing {pics}

Superfluke and I spent a few days on KY Lake recently and I sure learned a thing or two about mid-lake, deep water bass fishing !
It was an education to say the least...
For me, If I can't see a downed tree, stump, weedline, rip-rap, submerged point, or whatever, I'm out of my element when it comes to hooking bass...

Here's the report.

The first day we were blown off the lake 3 times? by nasty rain/thunder.

Here's Superfluke using his time wisely {as it pours down rain} to re-rig for another try.

The next day, we picked off a few fish here and there, but for a newby like me, dragging a Carolina Rig across the shell beds {ledges}, where the water depth could vary from 10 FOW to 30 FOW during a single cast was an education {to say the least}.

If you hooked a fish, it was a good one, as this pic shows. The other bass we caught were nice, but not quite pic-worthy...

The Barge traffic on KY Lake can be heavy at times.

For those who are interested, in terms of accommodations, we stayed {again} at the "luxurious" Bel -Air Motel. The A/C was ice cold. So much so, that my partner slept in a hoody and flannel pajamas. Sure, the bathroom door did not close, but who cares when it it 90+ humid degrees outside and the Motel has all the free ice you can carry.

You're gonna need it battling the merciless sun...

Fonzie, what kind of graph(s) do you have and do you know how to decipher what you are seeing? Really not much different than seeing the cover/structure with your own eyes if you can read the graph(s). Main difference is it can be a bit challenging hitting the target.

Fluke's boat has two giant graphs with the lake map and waypoints.
You just gotta find the shell beds and make sure you stay on them.

I have read most of Dave Stewart's articles on KY Lake ledge fishing.
