Was down there in March of 2004. Don't remember the place we stayed but I do remember it was infested with ants. It's a tough lake to fish because unlike our local lakes Table Rock is very deep. Get a fishing hot spots map. We didn't have a guide but if I ever go back it would probably be worth it to spend a day with a one. We didnt have much luck fishing ledges. We did catch a combination of large and smallmouth bass in the creeks where the sun was heating up the rocky shallows but there was no size to the bass. The fish were caught on white spinnerbaits and live bait. Don't know how much help that is to you but good luck.

I was there 3 times in my life. Never again ! Even with a guide all we got was baby bass and one humongous crappie, like 17 inches. It was a real bustout. We call it "No fish on the table rock lake". Maybe you'll have better luck. Hope so.

Thanks for all the feedback and advice. We are planning on getting a guide for the first day to get a better idea of the lake and whats hitting and not. Theres supposed to be a tournament the following week after so hopefully we catch the bass and crappie at the right time.

They will surely tell you "the fish were biting last week"

If the water level is as high as it was last year the lake should be fairly easy to fish especially if your going there in March. It's a large lake. Don't get carried away with running around the entire thing. I made that mistake the first time I went there. Choose a creek arm to fish and stick with it until you find a pattern. Some of the creek arms out there are the size of a small lake. I spent three days fishing the same creek arm last September and discovered a really good pattern that the guides were not using. As always, start with the baits you have the most confidence in and make variations from that depending on the mood of the fish or where they are located. I think you will be successful.

Fished it once. Like already mentioned it's a very deep, clear lake. Maybe it was our fault or inexperience at the time but we didn't do well at all and have not been back. I would suggest the same thing. Pick a few arms/bays that look good and work them like they are a lake itself. Running that whole main lake back and forth is great for boat rides, sightseeing, and skiing but didn't really help us put fish in the boat.

Check out ozarkanglers.com. Go to the forums, and then Table Rock. Some great folks posting, with several guides. Went down last summer, and just followed reports from the sire, and did O.K. It is very different than fishing most lakes though. There are several guides from the site who give great, free posting info. If I were going to be making it a fishing trip I would for sure hire one, even for a half day. Lots of them will spend the time just discussing options and areas to fish while showing them to you if you prefer.
