I was actually out last Sunday in the 90 degree heat. I guess the masochist in me won out so I went out in the early morning to fish Rock Creek. Started fishing around 7 am in the pool above the bridge. I was thinking since there might be a few rainbows left I would drift a nymph through the riffle leading into the pool. Did that for about 20 minutes with no luck so I tied on a small olive crystal beadhead woolybugger and started fishing this part of the pool
and started catcuing small rock bass like this one
and this one.
Went down the pool a little farther fishing right here.
I started catching more rock bass that were slightly bigger.
Worked my way downstream and found this pool
that held some fsirly decent rock bass.
Worked my way down to the bend and fished this pool.
The bite started to slow down but, still a few were caught.
By this time it was 11:30. The water temperature in the creek was 74 degees so the heat seemed tolerable. Anyway it was time to go.
What was interesting about this trip was that I didn't catch any chubs and only one very small smallmouth bass that refused to pose for a picture.
