Default Taking the nephew on a trip

I'm taking my nephew down to the keys for a week of fishing at the beginning of June. We fly out of Ohare. The boy has a passport for ID, I took him to Canada a year ago. When we crossed the boarder, I had to present a noterized letter from his parents, giving me permission to take him out of the country. Do I need something like that for air travel inside the U.S. ?

I don't know about that, but God forbid something happens and he gets injured, you should have a notorized document that says you can authorize treatment. You would be the "power of attorney" until his parents would arrive. Otherwise the hospital would do the bare minimum until they arrived. I went thru this when my son was a minor. Sorry to be a downer. Just something to think about.

Yes , notarized trav itinerary from BOTH parents or whomever has gaurdianship either full or partial. detailing who the child is to be traveling with, when & where. The medical staement is also a must have to be safe. Documents must be originals. No faxes/copies. Have a great trip!
