Default Tournaments

I don't fish the tournaments. I do fish weekends and get to observe what goes on. I have witnessed cheating, assholes etc. on both the Mazonia and Braidwood tournaments. The more exposure, which usually equates to money tends to have the worst offenders involved. The smaller tournaments are just guys fishing for a little extra fun. Mazonia affairs tend to be that way. Braidwood can get stupid with some of the big money affairs. Recently was fishing Braidwood and big name big price boats started to arrive in one of the spots. Observed a lot of short fish being put in live wells, why I don't know. Saw a fish pass from boat to boat. Saw fisherman gang up with their boats on a poor guy with a lesser name older boat. One ******* who also fishes Mazonia tournamants actually hit my boat. Why? Because we were catching fish. 18" keepers. They don't like that. Another tried to hit us with jigs. Another Braidwood regular who catches bass like crazy had to leave as well. If your not in the clan look out.
It seems like a few with some money or massive debt think they are special and deserving of becoming professionals because they can afford the equipment. Not what gets you there.
I also volunteered for a lot of kids events and the adults would cheat to have their kid win. WTF!
Clubs tend to be better. So if you want to fish a tournament it might be a good place to start with a club.
Not bashing any one tournament or group. Just don't hit my boat, respect others and have fun win or lose. Just my 2 cents
Let bashing begin.

I'm just your Average Dave, don't have the big fancy debt, nor do I need it right now. I've fished with plenty of a$$holes over the years until I found a couple guys I can actually fish with and enjoy myself.
But seriously Kodiak, let's get together some time.

Like anything else there seems to be a good mix of good and bad. I know some guys who fish the tournements for fun and some who take it way to seriously and go about it like d bags. I fished a half dozen or so MBH tourneys 4 or 5 years ago and everyone was courteous and easy going for what it's worth.

i dont know you kodiak but i will second your feelings, i also have witnessed cheating out there at mazonia, i kayak out there a bit and see alot of things, there no need to be cheating or harrassing anyone. i never had them hit me with lures but ive been cut off alot. i will be out there alot and i will see it again and take pictures this time, polish joe is right mix of good and bad, the bad needs to move on, aint nobody professionals out there, fishing is meant to be fun, and i enjoy the outdoors. drakebuster can buy me a beer tto.

Scott, maybe I'll try to swing a cookout this summer, but you may have to leave that crazy Jeff at home.

I read a post on another thread about possible cheating in mazonia tournaments. There has been rumors this year and several people claim to have seen something or know something. If you actually see or know something please bring that information to the directors of the tournaments. Even if you are a recreational fisherman who happens to see something...please do us other anglers a huge favor and report it. I do enjoy fishing tournaments for the fishing, but also for the competition. I don't have a problem losing a little money to any other angler who catches more then me on a certain day. But I do have a problem if someone is "cheating" to take my money.
