I love the place too. But it hasn't been the same since a lot of water that used to run thru it got routed away. I think that was the circa 1980 drain. I heard the billions of shad didn't show during last drain either.

Just glad it takes care of itself better than Hoosier DNR does.

Might have to go back after next weeks bake.

The last drain, in 2003, was an awesome time. They doubled the limits you were able to keep. I heard later on, they removed the limits all together and relaxed the rules. I had a friend tell me he was down there dipping up fish for his own pond.

I heard they kept some fish in retention ponds as well, but I think the ponds just held fish the replenish after the refill, I don't think they kept anything from the original cast.

That year we ice fished until March 13th....far cry from this year

Willow Slough is my primary stomping ground. I generally hunt squirrels and coyotes.

If your interested in doing some good squirrel hunting, I would suggest areas 8A, 12 and 10. They are everywhere, but I found those areas to provide me with the best results.
