Default Salt Creek - Westchester area

So, after getting at least the theory of fall pike down at my old job, I decided to get a new job nowhere near the desplaines river. (Actually, it's not all that far...)

I'm now 3 minutes away from Salt Creek, in the Westchester area. Talked to a guy yesterday on my lunch hour, who was fishing for bait, and doing a fair job of it, with 1/2 dozen big creek chub in his cooler...
He indicated that Salt Creek's a decent fishery all year long, mentioning bass and the occasional walleye as possible target species.

Over the years, Salt Creek's not got a lot of mention on this site, compared to just about every other stream in a 75 mile radius.

anyone here actually fish it, with positive results?

It's simply too close NOT to fish on my lunch hour, once water levels drop and clarity improves.

Some Big Girls swim in that stretch. Scout of a few areas and you will find fish.

north of there in an undisclosed location, was a big muskie. No joke. He was photo'ed and released, and lurks in Salt Creek right now as far as I know. It's no fish story! It is believed there may be others; and wallys have been caught at least occasionally for years. Best I ever did was big suckers.

Species I've seen or caught in Salt Creek include walleye, smallmouth, largemouth, crappie, gizzard shad, creek chub, bluegill, orangespotted sunfish, green sunfish, yellow bullheads, brown bullheads, carp, pike, white suckers, and others I'm spacing out right now. All my experience with the creek is between Hinsdale and Riverside/Lyons.
