Shoved off at 4:30AM, lines set by 5AM, fished to 9:30AM. Started right out of the harbor in 15fow and worked back and forth. Several good marks, but no takers. Shot out to 50fow and set up. Lots of boats from 50 to 150fow. In fact that's the most boats I have ever seen out of NP. Lots of boats started shallow like we did, but sooner or later they all move out deep.
Four strikes on the down riggers in 90 to 110fow on purple North Port nailers, all lost.
Only fish we got in the boat was a small king about 6# off the dipsy on a pearl fly dodger combo. Based on the radio cross talk, nobody was lighting the world on fire.
NOAA said waves less than a foot. We found 3 foot rollers. Tough day.
