I wsa one of the first our this morning at Bangs. I check the ice from Wauconda Boat all the way to Lindy's. The ice varied from 3 to 4 inches thick. After all the walking, fishing, and drilling, I did not have any ice crack. The ice was black with out any snow cover. This probably explains why there were only 2 flags from sun up to noon. In all, we have six tip ups between three of us. One crappie and one northern. A couple more crappie were caught on jigging poles with minnows or maggots. The crapping were around 10 inches each and the northern was about 22 inches.
There were about a half dozen other people on the ice. I saw three flags from them and it looked like they were small bass. I would recommend getting out tonite or the ice may not be good enough will the warmer weather on Sunday. Bangs typically is a good evening and nite fishing lake.
