Default What about all us dopes who never fished pistakee....?

Grip and rip, Pray and spray, what's the strategy? A few of us, and I figure not too many will admit, have NEVER fished pistakee, including me.

well the 2 best bets will be Blue gill and Crappie. When you get on the ice at oak park turn and head south, there most likely will be a village out there. Work from 16 to 21' fow and watch the vex for the crappies to move in. A white mini-might with a pink head or a rat finkie in the same color would be my first choice lure. For gills head to the towards the bridge by 173. The lake will form a channel there, from where the channel opens up in to the lake to about 10 -12' fow is gill city(and crappie too) if you don't mark fish, move on till you find them. You will have to keep an eye on them as the will move, and you will have to chase them.

One more question...

Is it OK to have 2 jigs on your jigging pole (one on the bottom & one about a foot above on a dropper)?

Thanks & can't wait to finally meet you guys! - JC

Yes, the regulations say no more than two hooks per line.

Dave, thanks for the tips on navagation and such. Would you recomend a newbie, such as myself, sit on one spot in or around the "village" or try to follow the schools of crappie? .

Sometimes the crappie only move 5-10 yards but when ice fishing that may mean 2 or 3 holes away.
If you have a bunch of holes drilled you can make a milk run with the vexilar and check each hole fore fish.
