Default Taxidermist

Anyone know of a good one. Have a duck that I need mounted. Have called a couple people and their rates range from $150-$225. Just want my bird done right and was looking for someone around Downers Grove. Then again I can always make a road trip, thanks!

Look back in the archives, AU20,

A while back there was some real good dialogue about this subject, with names and locations...

Do a Search (on the task bar above), type in taxidermist and sit back for a good read.

Good place to start.

Birds are the easiest form of taxidermy. There should be plenty of good bird guys out there. Just make sure you look closely at their work BEFORE you leave your bird and deposit. Especially if you're price shopping. Typically, the better taxidermists charge a bit more and/or if they're cheap, be prepared to wait awhile to get your bird back.

Joe Cochran (I think that's is name) does some nice bird work. I'm not sure of his business name but I know he was at the Lockport show last year and I know he advertises in the Outdoor Notebook. I think he's got a decent turnaround time at ~8 weeks also. Hope this helps...

Joe Cochran is great on anything he does! His fish, birds and deer all are really good! The name of his business is Nature's Image and he's in Lombard. I'll dig around for his card and post the number.
