Default Geo-cacheing

Is anyone out there into this new pastime of Geo Cacheing? I was checking into it and thought it would be fun to do with the kids (keeps them away from the tv!). Any tips?

I bought two new toys this week. Fishfinder and handheld GPS. See my other post. I may do Geocaching as well.

What GPS are you using or thinking about?

I know what you’re talking about blu, I have an ancient one also and the new ones are a lot nicer. I bought mine at the Wallmart at lake Erie one fall about 10 yaers ago because of fog and loved it, but the new ones are a bunch better.

My 76CS will arrive today. Software for geocaching is built into it just like the 60C. Found that out last night (after I ordered it). Check out the 60C and 76C if you want to spend the coin on this (hopefully it has other features you will like).

Look at the forums at www.geocaching.com and check their trading post. You might be abe to get a etrex legend for $100 wich is a great price. May get some maps with it. Many guys there want to up grade to a 60c or 76c.

Thanks to pondprowler64 for selling me his old GPS unit I was playing around with it today and actually figured out how to punch in coordinates. There is a cache hidden right in downtown Elgin, but the area is closed due to flooding (at leaset, it WAS there!). The GPS unit is very cool. Once I entered the coordinates, you just follow the direction of the arrow to the spot!

The kids are really going to have fun with this!
