Default Cursed at while fishing smallies on DuPage River

Stopped by McDowell Grove Forest Preserve on the DuPage River in Naperville today with a buddy. I go there about once a week at throw out jigs and twister tails for smallies when the water is low and clear.

Caught a very nice smallie, released it and wiped my hands in the grass. A man was picknicking with a woman near us and stood up, walked toward me and said, "Have fun doing that?". I obviously said yes as I caught a 2+ pounder on an ultralight rod w/ 4lb test! He said "Yeah, you have fun hurting animals for your enjoyment". Then he proceeded to call me a "F***ing Fat A** Pu**y" many times over. He also said, "The fish will get back at you, someday you will have something metal smashed into your jaw" as he made a motion of a fist hitting his jaw. I didn't really say much, just smiled and got my twister tail back on the jig for some more fishin. They left as he continued his previous curses. I kept fishin.

Luckily there were no children around to hear his cursing. People like him probably think fisherman are 'ruining' the forest preserves. I think he has it backwards!!!!!

Did he say all of this with cheeseburger juice running down his chin. LOL
Some people have got to be ranting to feel they have a purpose in life. Good job on keeping your cool and not turning him into fish food. lol

I find it funny that he wants to keep the peace between people and fish, but it's not a priority to keep the peace with people.

It's too bad you weren't with me. We would have had no problems. I'm 6'6" 225lbs. I also like to lift weights  I dont think he would have said anything to us But seriously that's ridiculous to come up to a total stranger and say that after you released the fish.

Normally I'm a C&R guy, but I think after that guy said that, I would have got a bucket or stringer and kept the next bass I caught. Then I would have let him know that thanks to him, I was going to fry that bass for dinner and think of him the whole time
