Default I'm a poor sap

I'm a poor sap who loves to fish but don't have a car or worse a boat, i've been lucky to always live near ( walking distance) decent bass fishing. But I want to try something a little different. Anyone with a boat I would pay part of the fuel cost and you keep most of the fish (I want just 1 or 2). I wish I had money for a charter, but its just not happening soon, I have a baby due in Jan. Or any shore fisherman want to teach a youngster some tricks? I'll buy the brews.

Default Newbie

Always willing to help out even a Ditka fan. Now if you stated you were a Brett Favre fan I could give more specific information. I fish out of Waukegan mostly and always willing to help out a newbie. 20 years ago I was just like you. I did my own thing but also kept an eye on who was dragging off stringers of fish and what they were using. Let me know if there is anything I can do.

All it takes is some time, I became addicted all over again starting in 1998. Enough that I saved up for a boat, because each spring the COHO were so hit ir miss. Browns and Kings are pretty consistent based upon the time of year.

BUt now I chase them all summer, I have the fever, the only cure may be the gas prices.

I have learned a lot from folks like Fin over the years, just ask, generally people will help you out.

Last year I told some guy he should come cast next to me and use what I am using. After seeing the third fish I caught he finanlly did and then he banged one too, after I loaned him a lure, I even left it with him when I had to go, he left the lure at the harbor house when he was done.

Right now, from shore, slow cranking glo in dark krocs will be the most consistent. In a couple of weeks bring another rod to have spawn on the bottom whilE casting(be sure to have the bail open or you may loose a rod). Then the casting lures can include rattle traps and other stuff. Later in the fall off to J-pier for trout with spawn and shiners, or to the south rocks(you can sit in your car there).
