Default Waukegan 9/20 (night time is the right time)

Fished the outer rocks again, got my line wet at about 5:45pm. I was suprised to find no fish jumping and no one having any luck. People came and went with no bites. I had packed up my stuff to leave but decided to stay longer. At about 9:30pm I packed up again but heard someone on the south rocks yell "Fish On!!!" So I unpacked again, a few casts later I fell a tiny tick, but set the hook just to be safe, a few minutes later a nice 15lb. male king (that's how I do). What a fight, just amazing, I think I have a new favorite fish. On my way in I saw a group of guys who just got their 2nd one off gov. pier, and quite a few others just caught, looks like that was probably the hot spot tonight.

Very nice!!
I must have just missed all the action on the south rocks. I got there about quarter to ten. I cast for about 45 minutes, nothing. The end of the rocks was full of fishermen and it didnt look like anyone was departing anytime soon. Plus I heard a rat scurrying around where I was fishing... So I packed up and walked over to Govt pier. I walked with another angler, i think his name was Rick (I'm so bad with names... I forget the name as I am letting go of their hand after shaking it). Anyway we walk about 1/2 way down Govt pier. He picks a spot and starts unloading his cart when he realizes he left his lantern back on the south rocks. So, I tell him I'll watch his stuff while he runs back. Well, I figure I'd wet a lure while waiting (Kastmaster). Sure enough, I hook into a nice 12 pound female. After about 8 minutes, she's in the net. When he gets back, I appologize for getting his net wet and inform him he indeed has picked a good spot. He attributes the fish to good Karma (doing him a favor by watching his stuff).
Anyway, nice guy!!
He let me cast his noodle rod a little later
Very cool... I need to get one of those.

I left shortly after midnight. So, first outing to Waukegan this year was a good one!!
