Hey there all,

A buddy of mine who has recently gotten the fishing bug (and he's got it bad!) is desperate to shore fish the Fox early tomorrow.

Where are some spots to shorefish that are close to Chicago & have some Bass, Northern, Musky, or Cats, etc.?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated & as always, I'll post our results.

Good Luck & take a big kid fishing! - JC

OK, so it looks like we're going to try near the Elgin Dam. Anyone have suggestions on a place we can shorefish near there?

Thanks! - JC

You can fish all the shoreline around Walton island.
Access to the island is on the east side of the river.
You can park in the library/Hemmens Auditorium parking lot which is on the east side right at the dam.

Thanks Ed!

I was just about to guess at where to go & then hit the sheets. Now I can just hit the sheets.

I'll post how we do tomorrow.

Any recent reports/suggestions for this area? Sounds like we could find Smallmouth, Cats & Walleye. Is there a baitshop nearby?

We plan on trying Crawlers, Chicken Livers, and large minnows as well as some soft plastics.

Well, we fished Walton Island just below the Elgin Dam. Started out great with a nice Smallmouth on the first cast (Green Tube jig).

Other than that, only a drum & a striped bass.

Nice spot. We'll be back to find some more Smallies.

Thanks again Ed!

No problem JC, they just reopened the island last month. I think they did a nice job.
