Default 9-5 morning report

Got out for an hour & a 1/2 this morning and worked a 3" pearl twister tail on a 1/16th oz jig.
Heard a splash behind me (was facing downriver) so I spun around and let fly a cast.
This catfish just slammed the jig and headed for the heavier current.
Took quite a few minutes to bring the one in. Great fight.

I then moved down to a log jam and this smallie hit the jig after a nice one came up and missed it.

I then moved down to a large eddy and snagged this quillback in the dorsal.

This crappie hit a 1/16 oz jig also but with a 2" white twister tail.

Headed out later on for the evening bite and maybe some topwater action.

Are you guys just fishing jigs and plastics or do these have minnows or leeches as well?

Just the 1/16th oz jig and plastic, no live bait at all.

Nice cat. I have managed to let summer slip away without pounding E for kitties. Dang. Starting tomorrow I am fixing that.

Isnt it a great feeling to not know what is on the other end of the line!? You keep up the hope that its that 20 inch smallie or 6lb walleye, just to find out its a catfish. Dont get me wrong, i love to catch nice cats, but you keep up the hope only to be dissapointed when you see what it is Thats why i love river fishing! You never know what you are going to get! Nice report Ed
