Default VERY IMPORTANT, MUST READ ALL PERCH FISHERMEN

Can you make a difference in our Perch Fishing Season ? I think you can. After all you guys were the ones who helped to stop the commercial netters of the great lakes. You have given up a lot to get your perch fishing back. The numbers of perch have greatly increased and now itís past time that we the fisherman get back our closed July season. After all, no other state has a closed season. (None) . Michigan has a daily limit of 50 and no closed season. More than 3 times our daily limit. Indiana has a daily limit of 15 with no closed season and are talking about kicking it up to 50 like Michigan. Wisconsin is another story. While they only have daily limit of 5, that is only in the southern part of Lake Michigan. Northern part of Lake Michigan is 25 with no closed season. None. In fact the northern zone they had a meeting (Lake Michigan Fisheries Team) to increase the commercial harvest of yellow perch from 20,000LBS. To 60,000LBS. They are waiting to see what the 2005 class does. So fare it has done very well. While these people come and go with their political lives, we the fisherman still fish our waters that we have fished most of our lives and suffer from their decisions. I will say in the defense of some of these polititions they do not know any better. You have till DECEMBER 11 to call. Now itís time you tell them. Nobody has an excuse with todays day and age of cell phones nobody has an excuse not to call them and tell them how you feel. Snail mail is better because it comes across their desk and they half to reply. But lets face it when was the last time you wrote a letter and dropped it of in the mail ? Get on you phone and call these guys and keep it simple. I want my perch fishing back in July. Who to call or write you can make a difference. This will be voted on DECEMBER 11 2006

I urge all Not to do it !

It Will not happen either way..

But..

In doing so..

Over the Next 3 Years you will Greatly Decrease are Jumbo Population on the Lake michigan Shoreline..

You can already Catch them useing pratically your finger in late june...

(Figure of speech)

So if It's opened in july..

The Jumbos will be so easy to catch... Its Crazy..

It's not so bad to take a month off...

Theres 11 More Months to target them.

Persoanlly I like to catch jumbos...

Thats What I want when I go Perch Fishing.

Don't Make Our Children to COnsider a jumbo 6-7" in the Future..

Rediculous..

George

Amen.

Just because other states have higher limits or no closed season doesn't mean it's right. It isn't going to kill anyone to take a month off.

Well I'll be tunning on to this one. I see a 3 to 4 page spread here.
Guess I should give an opinion everyone has one. Don't think it will matter much. If you think that a ban on Perch fishing for just the border waters of IL has a great imact on the population, while the rest of the states don't follow suit, your nuts. The only reason the fishing has improved is because of the regulations on commercial fishing.100 perch fisherman fishing every day for 1 month will never equal 40.000 pounds of fish. Get real!!!! Vote YES for the common angler and NO for the commercial fisherman!!!

I disagree with George. July would be THE best month for perch fishing. There are A LOT of perch. If you want big/jumbo perch, late June and early August is good, but that only gives a short time to fish. I think that it should open for July and then they could limit us. Most people do follow the limit. I do agree that leaving it a 15 fish/person limit for July might be bad. It could be overkill and turn bad. But, we should at least get the opportunity to fish in July. This Can happen. Vote YES

Default OPEN JULY PERCH

July should be an open month for perch. Our fishable season is way to short to begin with. At best you have two good months and then you have the wind to deal with. A day or two of east wind and nobody catches anything. Ive seen it last for 3 weeks. The commercial fishermen and the zebra mussels filtering the plankton are what killed the catch to begin with. Now their back and their back strong. We have had five successfull year classses of fish. You cant get any better than that. Its time to fish and the pole angler isn't going to make a dent in the population. It would be a rare occasion that you could consistently catch a limit of 50, much less 15 jumbo. Even if you could catch 15 a day its a reasonable number condidering the how many trips the average angler will make.

OPEN JULY PERCH IT'S A **** BIG LAKE AND THE "POLE FISHERMAN' AIN'T GONNA PUT A DENT IN THE PERCH
