Default Help a Young Fisherman

My brother in law's 8 yr. old grandson was recently diagnosed with Duchene Muscular Distrophy. To help defray the mountain of medical bills that he will be up against a fundraiser is planned and I will be selling tickets. We are open to any and all suggestions to make this event a success. Here's JT's story from his CaringBridge website:

Hi Everyone!

My name is JT. I am 8 years old and in 2nd grade. I have a baby brother named Dominic who is 1 year old and is the best brother ever! I had the privilege of naming him myself because my parents could not decide on a name! Lucky me! I have also given my brother a nickname too…piranha, as he loves to bite everything and everyone! I have a yellow lab named Lady who likes to bark a lot! I have Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy!

My favorite things to do are play playstation, play baseball, listen to music, play with my cousin, Giovanni, and my friends, swim, and go to baseball games with my papa and grandma. My favorite baseball team is the White Sox and my favorite football team is the Bears. My best friends are Giovanni, Steven, Tylor, and Cesar. We like to ride bikes, swim, and play baseball in the summer! I love mint chocolate chip ice cream and nachos at school. I am also in karate and have a yellow belt at the moment. I am learning how to play the guitar too, it’s very hard but I practice everyday! I love to play with hot wheels and watch anything that has to do with racing cars! I love watching wrestling, and my favorite wrestler is John Cena! I hope to one day be a baseball player!

JT was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy on September 11, 2006, and that had to be the worst day of our lives! He had a muscle biopsy done on October 6 and after waiting for what seemed like forever the final results were in. On December 19, 2006 we found out that JT had Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which is the worst kind to have. This is a debilitating disease that will destroy his muscles and at the current time there is no cure! People are working hard everyday to find one and hopefully one day soon there will be a cure for this terrible disease! We just want to say thank you to everyone who has prayed for us and our family and please continue to do so.

The James Thomas Stringham 1st annual Benefit Fund.

This event will be held on May 12th from 1:00pm – 7:00pm and will be located at Stage 83, 10900 S. Rt. 83 Lemont, IL 60439.

Tickets are now on sale for this event and the prices are as follows: $25 per adult and $10 per child 12 and under

There will be an article in the Romeoville Register March 28th and broadcasts on 98.3 FM (Roy in the Morning) with information on this benefit.

Ryan, thank you very much for the generous offer. I will check with the family and figure out the best way to auction the trip. Maybe we can do it here on CLF. Thanks again.
