Default Who's ice-fished the Mississippi backwaters?

Looking for some info as to where to fish this winter?
Is there a site that lists local conditions and bait shops out there?
I've never made a trip out to the Miss, thought this would be the year.
Thanks,
Bill

Cool, some of them were really nice. Look like fun can't wait.

Default Miss-Backwaters

It's either boom or bust. Spring Lake by Savanna, Michelsons near Fulton, Rock Creek on the Iowa side near Clinton, all the way down to Keithsburg. All fishing is shallow water, backwater fishing. It doesn't take long to figure out if the fish are in the backwaters. If they are-people will be fishing. If not- you won't see anybody. Few places to get a good report- there's a bait store in Clinton Iowa you can call, probably 1 or 2 in Savanna/Galena you can find on the internet. Not a lot posted here about ice fishing on the Mississippi. Just go over there and scout it out- start in Galena and go south.

Ah yes, those ringged perch as they call em.

Get to michelsons landing and fish the channel there. Usually pretty good. Its on the right hand side. On the left is some shallow weedy stuff. Pretty good too. Ahead about 1100a good walk though some very thin ice usually is spring so be careful around that.

I like ice fishing there.
