I've had swans get very agressive with me while fishing before.
They started it, I swear.

Thankfully I was sitting higher up in a fishing boat, and not down at it's level in a Kayak.

Mean f*ckers. perhaps they need whacked and stacked.

Now that's funny.
I had a similar occurence happen in 1989 with my daughter and my son. We were shore fishing a pond and my daughter wanted to fish like we were throwing a some small hardware.
She was five at the time so I fixed a small plug on her rod to satisfy her. Well while we were casting all of a sudden I hear from my daughter... Uh! Oh !! I think I caught a Goose. Sure enough a small flock had ventured in range of her casting and she hooks a young one on a foot. The flock spook and she is running out drag like she is fighting a steelhead. I get my son to take her rod (he is 8 at the time) and wrap the line around his covered hand before they run out alll the line. By this time the geese are running across land all excited. I walk out to the young goose grab it by the next and kneel on it. (about 75 yds.) I grab my pliers and go to unhook the goose. I look up and see Mom and Dad at about 10 feet looking at me hissing at eye level. I talk to them quietly unhook th eyoug goose and they don't attack. To say I was a little unnerved was a understatement. It's a great story though. So I can understand you situation. Don't befriend wild animals.. They are not tame. Just quiet at the time.
