Default Giant Muskie Caught (Maybe the biggest ever)

Rich Clarke from Sign man Charters guided a first time Muskie fisherman to this 60"x29.5" brute on the St. Lawrence yesterday. The fish was released unweighted but the consensus on Muskie First is that it is the biggest legitimate Muskie ever caught. Estimated weight is 60#-65#

Nice fish, but LOL! It's always THE biggest when it's not weighed!!! And another FYI, I've yet to take in a fish that actually measured what the charter boat captain SAYS it measured! Charter boat captains have a vested interest in fudging the facts. They ALL lie! Sorry to be such a downer. But, facts are facts. It wouldn't have taken much to get an actual weight on this fish IF it truly was as big as they say it was. If you're concerned about the health of the fish and don't want to take the time to weigh it, then please don't make ridiculous guestimates about it's size. Again, awesome fish. Thanks for sharing the pic. But, if one doesn't want to "catch" grief for making such outrageous claims, then either weigh the darn thing or say "Caught a Huge Musky". Don't claim it's the "biggest ever"!!!

Again, releasing the fish without weighing is a convenient way to stake a claim. Makes for great conversation. But, if I were to guess the biggest at least that I've seen released in my lifetime it would have to be this one (see link below). Assuming the measurements for both fish are accurate. The girth on this one will more than make up in weight the 3 inches shorter in length of the "60 incher". Plus, look at both photos. This one is tight to the under 6 foot guys body. The "60 incher" is actually held out towards the camera beyond the guys KNEE! Funny thing is McNairs friend/guide allegedly caught and released a 59x28 a few years back. Perhaps the above 60 incher now??? Again, both beautiful fish. But, if these guys are claiming "biggest ever" they WILL be catching a ton of grief - lol! (Sorry for the rant, but this IS a big pet-peeve of mine!!!)

LOL - yeah it is, isn't it Axis! Makes that 57 incher look pretty SMALL - lol!

In all fairness, the more I research this 60 incher I think Clarke is an innocent bystander here. It's all the rounds the photos have made on the internet with folks adding in their own opinions that has now evolved into "record proportions". In the original interviews with Clarke he's much more humble - like McNair about his catch. Still think McNair's 57 inchers is bigger...

Capt. Clarke has been putting up giant fish for years. Take a look at his website. He is the real deal, and Muskie fisherman, who are notorious nay sayers, are fully convinced of his catches. Put this photo of the 60"x29.5 next to the completely discredited Loui Spray fish that is the current world record of 63"x30" and you can see the difference.

Clarke Fish 60"x29.5" 60#+ Estimated weight

Louis Spray (Current World Record) Claimed 63"x30" 69#11Oz

It's not even close
