Nice fish, but LOL! It's always THE biggest when it's not weighed!!! And another FYI, I've yet to take in a fish that actually measured what the charter boat captain SAYS it measured! Charter boat captains have a vested interest in fudging the facts. They ALL lie! Sorry to be such a downer. But, facts are facts. It wouldn't have taken much to get an actual weight on this fish IF it truly was as big as they say it was. If you're concerned about the health of the fish and don't want to take the time to weigh it, then please don't make ridiculous guestimates about it's size. Again, awesome fish. Thanks for sharing the pic. But, if one doesn't want to "catch" grief for making such outrageous claims, then either weigh the darn thing or say "Caught a Huge Musky". Don't claim it's the "biggest ever"!!!
Again, releasing the fish without weighing is a convenient way to stake a claim. Makes for great conversation. But, if I were to guess the biggest at least that I've seen released in my lifetime it would have to be this one (see link below). Assuming the measurements for both fish are accurate. The girth on this one will more than make up in weight the 3 inches shorter in length of the "60 incher". Plus, look at both photos. This one is tight to the under 6 foot guys body. The "60 incher" is actually held out towards the camera beyond the guys KNEE! Funny thing is McNairs friend/guide allegedly caught and released a 59x28 a few years back. Perhaps the above 60 incher now??? Again, both beautiful fish. But, if these guys are claiming "biggest ever" they WILL be catching a ton of grief - lol! (Sorry for the rant, but this IS a big pet-peeve of mine!!!)
