Jika rig for bass is my new experiment. Got some 1/2oz pencil weights paired up with some EWG Gamakatsu hooks. Tried it out last weekend and it looks like it should Rock!!! come prespawn/spawn.

What say you?

Got a whole shopping bag full of new baits for both muskie and bass.

Anxious to try out my new river2sea Dahlberg Clackin' Crayfish.

Also got some Shur-set swim jigs I'll pair up with Kalin's Lunker Grubs to use in place of spinner baits on some occasions.

Instead of new baits and techniques, I'm going to concentrate on 1 or 2 bodies of water this year and learn them better... Anyone who's ever been in my basement knows I don't need anymore "stuff"...

Jika Rig? Gotta admit- I've never heard of it. Need to look that up.

I don't have many new lures or presentations to try but I have decided to change up my approach. First, I am going to fish the Bent Rods Tournaments this year which will be the first Ts I've fished in several years and the first time I've fished in my boat in a T in more than 10 years. So just the fact that I am fishing some tournaments means I will prefish the lakes and polish up my presentations. I think always fun fishing has made me a little lazy and I don't prepare anywhere near what I used to. Secondly, I want to become less reliant on plastics and fish jigs more and power fishing techniques more. I know I miss out on good crankbait bites since I don't throw them on a consistent basis. While I had a good year pitching a jig last year, I want to keep improving and become better at detecting the most subtle bites. Lastly, I want to fish different bodies of water. I became a member of Bass and Gill a couple years ago and have mostly stopped going to many other lakes. While I have done great at B and G catching a lot of quality fish, it has made me very one-dimensional. I want to get back to fishing Braidwood and Delavan in addition to fishing the lakes that Bent Rods will fish.

Jika Rig looks like a modification of the original Banjo Minnow... It came with all kinds of clip-on weights...
