Default Snapping Turtle almost got me. LOL

While Bass fishing I snagged into this small snapper. It almost got me and I wanted to
lift it into the boat but my wife reminded me how much they smell. We remembered our
brother in law showing his V-shaped 3" black and blue bruise on his back from a 12 pound
snapper he caught turtle trapping. He had it slung over his back and it bit right through
the gunny sack. This was just a little guy but it coulda put some hurt on me if he got a
finger.

Thank You, I hate hooking them too. My wife was pretty cool about the whole thing. Forty years ago she might have freaked out.

I caught 2 big snappers while turtle trapping as a teen on the same outing (20 & 26 lbs) but didn't have a gunny sack like an idiot. I was fighting the first one nonstop as it tried to cross the back seat of my john-boat, and I kept smacking it's nose with a stick to keep it back while I rowed to the next trap. Then I caught the second one, and wondered how I would get back home fighting 2 turtles with my feet close to them while I rowed back across the lake.

Well, I chucked the second one over the seat to where the first one was and those 2 raging mad reptiles took one look at each other and locked onto each other's jaws. They never moved all the way back. LOL.
