Default BPS Bionic Blade (spinning) & Shimano Sahara Combo

Hey guys,

I just picked this combo up over the winter when it was on sale for $89.99. Needless to say, I have not used it yet, but I am itching to break it out. I will post my thoughts here after a few uses. 6.5' medium heavy rod with a size 2500 reel. Going to be my medium weight plastics/jig setup.

Anyone have this combo from BPS?

I also just bought last weekend at the BPS Spring Fishing Classic the BPS Extreme Spiining Rod and Extreme Reel combo. They had it mis marked for $59.88 (Normally $99.99), and at the registers, they were swamped. So when I started advising them of their display for $59.88, the cashier just got frustrated, and rang it up as a Browning combo, for $49.99!

I will put up my thoughts on this combo as well. Not too sure about that new Extreme Spinning reel. It is large, and yet has very little line capacity. We'll see if that extra wide mag spool makes any difference in casting and retreving.

I'll post on these as soon as I have tangible data!

I have a sahara, bionic combo, and i think it is a great combo for the price. i have the 6.5' rod and a 2500 series reel. The extreme rod i live by and love it. the reel i have not used, but i have used the extreme baitcaster and i love that. all in all, i love BPS rods and shimano reels.

got one too, although I am a little disappointed to find out that you only paid 50 for it, I paid 50 for the rod and used a sahara I bought last fall for Salmon fishing.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like I will be happy with my purchases. I also over the winter bought an Extreme Baticast combo. I was just out in the yard today working on my pitching with it. Looks like I can hit a paper plate at 25 feet now pitching (well, most of the time anyway, as i am a newbie to pitching and flipping). This Extreme series seems to be good stuff. I loved the way the baitcasting combo felt during this practice run. Can't wait to get out and use the spinning gear.

Impatiently waiting for the friggin ice to melt!!!!!!!

Bumping this TTT to put some follow up feedabck out there.

Bionic Blade and Sahara Combo - Working great! Love the rod and reel. Been using it for Tubes and lizards right now, and it is sensitive, and the reel is smooth as silk! Higkly recommend!!!

Extreme Spinning Rod and Reel Combo - Love the rod, even more so than the bionic blade rod above!!! Slightly more sensitive, and a slightly faster tip. Given a choice, I would replace all my rods with this extreme, but my tree in the back yard has not yet sprouted $100 bills (hopefully soon!) The Extreme spinning reel is somewhat disappointing. I thought the large diameter spool would result in smoother farther casting, but I have not seen that. Reel is heavier than I would like, and it does a poor job of preventing line twist. Asdie from that, it is smooth, and the bail closes very easily. The Sahara reel is a better option IMO, but that is not offered as a combo with the extreme rod.
