Default Not fishing today, I've got the crabs!

And will use them Tomorrow bright and early. Been throwing shads and plastics all season with good results. Yesterday observed a gentlemen SLAMMING the jumbos left and right. Filled his basket in two hours and would wager that not one was under a pound. In the meantime , myself and maybe a dozen other anglers were throwing everything in the book at them with zero results.

The only thing that was working (late morning I might add) was the good old Softshell. So I bit the bullet for the first time and headed to Henrys for some of the dreaded "live bait". A one hour standin line and $50.00 later I have my first cache of Softshells. $12.00 a dozen is completley insane but at the same time have spent 50 bucks on a lot more non essential items.

Gonna hit it early Sunday. Besides slip bobbers and crappie rigs, isnt there some sort of spiiner set up that some folks use with Softshell peices? Would like to hear from you if so.

Have a good weekend
DTM

You can get a Mik-Lurch spinner and just put the part of the softshell on spinner and cast(usually get 2 pcs. of soft shell per softshell). You also can do what I do, just make yourself a few Walleye spinner rigs. Bead color doesn't seem to matter when they are in thick, but I always start with chartruesse & orangish-red beads(4-5 beads) w/#4 Colorado/Indiana blade. Blades colors...silver, gold, perch. When making these, use "quick" exchange clevis so you can change blade selection easily. Put on a inline sinker in front of rig and cast it out. Pretty simple, but easier to just buy the rig from Mik-Lurch.

Can't wait to hit the water later this week, will be Jumbo hunting downtown.

FYI

Lee's has softshells for $9 a dozen, and fresh dead frozen for $6 a dozen.

Went fish for fish right next to another guy this morning that had live. I think he felt like he got jipped after seeing fresh dead do just as well.

Use "white" shrimp from supermarket(large frozen bags), works just as well an much less the price.
