Beautiful morning...too bad the fishing wasn't so great. Got to the shoe around 4:15. Got 5 fish within the first 25 minutes and thought I would have a good day. The remainder of my 4 hours resulted in another 5 or 6 perch. Got three 13" fish first off and the remainder were 8"ers. Most fish came on a 1/16 oz jig and fluke. Also got a couple on a float with a minnow.

Oh...got two 12" smallies and had another two bust me off when I tried to hoist them up the wall with 4# test. One of them actually hit a gobie I hooked under my float. I was ticked when I hooked the gobie because I was getting a tap on my jigging rod. I put my rod down to finish my cast with my jig. Didn't get the fish to bite my jig again, but when I reached down to grab my float rod to reel up the gobie, my bobber was gone. As I started to reel...the gobie pulled back in a non-gobie fashion. I got the fish to the wall and busted him off as I tried to lift up the wall. It was a nice 2 1/2-3 pound fish.

On my way back to the car I couldn't figure out where all the people were until I drove to the end of the drive...were they giving away TV's out at the small pier? I sat and watched for 15 minutes or so and didn't see a fish caught. Tough day yesterday, but it was good to catch a few perch and smallmouth.

I was moving around contstantly. It seemed as though i would catch one fish per spot right away...then nothing. My coffee wore off about 9am and I headed back home. It isn't as easy to wake at 3am as it used to be!!!

Your report seems to be a repeat of what others have doing out there. Man the fishing was real hot early spring then seems to be dying off. My best luck has been from a boat fishing the weed beds. Perchin should be good by this weekend. Uusally by fathers day it's in full swing.....
