Default Perch Season Closed in June

I heard from one of my buddies that he seen in the Sun Times that the perch season is closed in June this year. He tends to read things wrong occasionally and I was wondering if this is true?

Only in Illinois... You can catch them out of Indiana or Wisconsin as long as you don't launch in Illinois...

Can't complain. Fishing is good for most this spring. Gearing up for another 10,000 kids with the Park fishing program this year. This is my tenth year doing it. It can be very rewarding at times. Thankful to still be involved in the industry.

Hope all is well with you

Wasn't this started to help with the spawning of Perch? I remember reading time and time again people saying it didn't make any sense that the closed off month was in June before.

I only thought it was until the end of May though so thanks for the info JKS.

I was out at Montrose looking for Coho and saw a guy with appeared to be a few small perch in a bucket. A guy doing a "survey" talked to him and nicely informed him of the new regs which solidified what I saw. It didn't matter, he kept them.
