Default Bow trolling motor mounts - help!

I have the T-shaped rubber mounts on my MotorGuide bow-mounted motor, that I've had to replace 2 times this month, and can't seem to get the knack of installing them correctly. My motor keeps coming loose and the rubber is splitting, even though I didn't seem to tighten them down too much. My motor rocks side to side when turning at higher speeds and works itself loose.

What's the right way to install them?
Does anybody have a better way of securing the motor so it doesn't move, or is it supposed to move?
Help!

I had those rubber t-mounts under a motorguide bow scissor mount for years... There was a certain amount of deflection, but not enough to cause a problem... I had to really turn those long screws down enough to bulge the rubber body, like a drywall anchor, to hold the hole... In at least 5 years, and probably closer to 10, I have never had to retighten... This was mounted through a wood deck... If you are attaching directly to a metal deck, the rubber tube is doomed... go directly through-bolt method with a thin rubber shim for vibration relief (a thin 'X' of silicone caulk under the mounting plate works fine)...
