Default Clear Water for Spearfishing Asian Carp

Hello from a Newbie. Great site! I'm really glad to discover it. I've been wanting to hunt some of those monster carp for years now, just didn't know how or exactly where. Glad to come across some folks who are taking advantage of the situation instead of complaining about it. From you and others I've heard what good eating they are, and I'd like to try them for myself, regardless of others' negative prejudices.

I have a nice recurve, but don't have the rest of the gear for fish archery. Do, however, have a speargun. So I was wondering if anyone could suggest locations which are relatively clear, at least a few feet viz, for me to hunt some carp underwater. Is this a possibility in our area, from your experience? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I honestly have no idea! I could find stuff on using a spear for fishing or even a pitchfork, but nothing on underwater spear fishing. I would call the DNR to make sure.
If you set up that recurve we can help ya! Where on the S/W side are you? Ive got some extra hand wrap reels you could try if you like,,,,,

You can use a spear gun in IL (for the species listed) but the problem you are going to run in to is finding clear water to use it.

The asian carp are thick in the river systems, but their visibility is generally very poor.

Jeez. Just realized this original post is 8 years old.

What is with everyone digging up all these posts from the grave yard lately?
