Got out around 5am and started fishing by prairie creek. Got a few cats and smallies before the sun was high enough to see in the river. Water is a couple inches lower than it was sunday. Plenty of buffs, commons, and redhorse. Still cant get to the gar in the deep hole. Got bored and went looking for some gar. Drove around to several backwaters with no luck. Remembered all the fish I saw by the 3rivers marina bridge at the shoot this spring. As soon as I got there I spotted two shortnose gar and ran back to the car for my bow. Longnose rolling all over but it was tough snap shooting. Saw the most gar around 11 when I arrived. They were rolling all afternoon long but didnt pick up until around 8 when I left. Lots of giant buffalo and what looked like some grass carp and silvers rolling too. Finally found an easy shore spot for gar!!!
