Took Fri. off to set up the range and pick up stuff from Cabelas for H&F Days, so thought I would also sleep in a bit and bowfished thurs night.
The basin is loaded with buffs right now. Took these 4 but easily could have harvested a hundred. Actually 3 buffs including about the smallest black buff Ive shot and a common. The weeds are clearing out nicely in spots too. Went into Jackson creek backwater and found it full of buffs too. I dont like that backwater though. The silt smells like oil sludge IMO. I wonder if there has been spills in the past or just accumulated over the years. But with oil smelling silt and that flame from the refinery so big it lit the sky up like the sun, it was like bowfishing in a toxic waste dump!
Anyway, lots of great bowfishing out there still guys
Saw one real nice grass carp out there too, but unfortunately he saw me at the same time and took off. At least a 20lb fish.
