Default Saugeye?

I was recently reading an article about walleyes and it also mentioned saugeye. I personally have never caught a Saugeye but I'm always looking for a new fish to try and catch. I was wondering if anyone had any tips or ideas about how to go about catching them. I know a lake close to school(WIU) has them (argyle state park) but other than that I don't know what their habits are or the best way to go about chasing them. Live bait? Artificial? Trolling? Deep? Shallow? So many questions haha.
Thanks for any advice I think this could be fun.

Used to catch them pretty frequently at Lake Wisconsin in Okee/Lodi. Used the same method as catching walleyes. Basically the same fish, sauger/walleye interbred. Jig and minnow used to work well. Good luck.

FishinMatt, went to school at WIU, maybe he'll chime in with advice on Argyle. He fished that lake pretty often.

Guys.....I've found them north.....Lock and Dam #4 on the Mississippi....

It's a great place to fish....Alma Wisconsin

I've been going there twice a year for nearly 20 years....spring and fall.

Thanks.....

I'm from monmouth and fished argyle quite a bit. Try the face of the dam casting cranks and jig/minnow from ice out through may(don't be afraid to fish at night). If you have a boat vertical jigging a jigging spoon or jig and minnow could be good right now. Try ice fishing if you get enough this year, might catch some rainbow trout too.
