With no ice on Erie this season the bite has been moved up a few weeks and has been going strong from 9-22 on jigs (purple)5/-1oz. The trollers are also getting them but why burn up 4.33 a gallon fuel when you can drift and catch a limit sometimes in 10 min. Here are a few pic's from last month and this weekend on Capt Mike's boat in the Port Clinton area.
While those are nice fish, I've released over 40 fish this year between 7-10.5 lbs, that's why I will burn the gas. I get my jiggin in too, but nothing like pulling in the big boys once you get it dialed in.
Yes its been worth the drive I've been lucky where others back out I make the trip and just kill them two weekends with both days of good fishing almost un heard of when fishing Erie.
Boats almost ready for Lake Michigan just hope the perch are on the north side.
Haven't really heard of any good Perch runs going up there in the past year or two. They really rebounded nicely down here after their spawn. I should say the fishing has been incredible the past week and no scavengers asking stupid questions and doing idle donuts around the boat! Not sure of your schedule next week but maybe we could set something up if you wanna make the drive? Thus the weather cooperates...
Poorboy Perch Charters?
They say you a legend out there Po boy!
