Default Weekend Fox River Smorgasbord

You may think I ate at the all you can eat buffet near the river...not so much, although, the bacon cooking at a nearby restaurant did smell good!!! MMMM BACCCCONNNN!!!
Fished this weekend and had a really good outing. The weather couldn't have been any better as the fishing was fantastic too. We fished from 5am until around 9am and had the entire river to ourselves. We caught a lot of SMB and kitty's. Both were very aggesive and hitting about anything we got in front of them that resembled a minnow. We burned through 5 dozen fatheads in the first two hours. Running a simple light wire hook and shot about a foot up. We caught ALL of our fish quartering our baits at the edge of big eddies and in/near heavy current. Once we ran out of minnows, we proceded to throw jig and a grub...which was equally accepted by the fish. The catfish were clobbering the jig and plastic.

In addition to smb and kitties, we caught a couple walleye, white bass, carp, and crappie. I don't think I am forgetting anything. Nothing was terrably large...most of the smb were 12-15" and the kitties ranged between a pound and three. The walleye were 12" or so, and the crappie was a dinner plate.

Not a bad way to spend the morning. Couldn't resist the alure of the bacon's siren song, so decided to head off around 9am.

I see a lot of digital pics from guys who wade. Do ya'll have a special waterproof floating camera? I am too **** scared to bring my digital out there and drop it in the water. From experience, water and cameras do not go well together.

Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.
