Default Cabins

I was hoping to get away next weekend, Memorial day weekend. I'm not much of a camper and I have two under the age of 3. Fishing, hiking, campfire, the whole thing, but no tents. I will be needing atleast a cabin. Also, I would not be looking to break the bank. I've been looking at state parks, but I don't know what to look for????? Any imput would be great. Thanks.

Finding a decent place with less than a week left before the biggest outdoors weekend since last September isn't going to be easy... You'd be hard pressed to find a Motel 6 with an outdoor pool right now... Some of the really big places might have an opening or 2... Bass Pro resort in Springfield, Mo., or something up in the Dells... But you are going to pay through the nostrilious maximus...

Good point. Thats about the answer I was expecting. Just thought I would ask. That may also be the answer that I can best afford. Thanks.

I honestly wouldn't attempt it at this point. Like said above, places book up extremely fast and early, and the resorts charge more for memorial day weekend in most cases. I would wait and try to plan a weekend some other time.

The Illinois DNR Website has info on rental cabins and tents located in the state parks that have them. All you have to do is call to see if any are available. The price is very reasonable. I rent a cabin at least once a year. I really like them for the comfort and convienence. I also rented a tent once at the last minute during a holiday weekend at Chain-O-Lakes. Really they are more like cabins with a canvas top. They have a wood floor and half walls, then canvas.

Sounds like a great paddle craft CLF idea. Cabin or 2 in small site for weekend of fishing.
