Default Firewood

I'm going camping later this week and I thought I would buy firewood to bring with us because it's expensive at the campground.
I was planning on grabbing some at a gas station, but I checked yesterday and it was $6.99 for a very small bundle!
Anyone know where I can get some cheap?
I just need enough to fill something the size of a recycle bin.

Maybe someone has a woodpile for their fireplace and will let you have a couple logs?
I know out in the Fox river valley there is plenty laying around all over the place.

Thanks Ed.
I just put out some feelers but I doubt anyone I know would have some at this time of year.

depending on where you camp, deadfall is a winner. KOAs forbid it on the grounds, but I never had a problem finding it outside the camp. Check carefully, some state parks also prohibit it. A handsaw makes short work of long pieces faster than you might think.

Often times you can find people offering free firewood on Craigslist. It helps to have a chainsaw for that sometimes though.

Be aware that many campgrounds forbid - by state and federal law, bringing in your own firewood. I guess it is because we are in the emerald ash-borer quarantine zone.

I didn't see anything on the park's DNR website about this so we will have to call.
