Default Camping 2nd weekend of August any recommendations?

Hey everyone. Mr friends and I are planning on camping the second weekend of August and I'm looking for any recommendations. The big snag with finding one so far is everyone wants to goto a campground with a swimmable lake and a campground that allows alcohol. Anyone know of such a place within 3 hours of the NW burbs?

Are you willing to go to Wisco? I think most of their parks allow booze. Richard Bong is pretty close but the lake is small and the beach might be crowded with kids.

Lakeland RV resort on Lake Koshkonong has a swimmable lake & alchohol friendly. Also has a nice pool & is within your desired travel distance. 1st exit past Janesville, i believe.

Fossil Rock in Braidwood IL About an hour from Chicago, A lake to swim in, private club so alcohol is ok, and pretty good fishing. Google them and you will find the phone number.

Governor Dodge State Park in Dodgeville, WI. Great beach, family friendly, and they allow booze. Good fishing too!

Just make sure everyone has fishing licenses, life jackets, etc. and everyone plays it cool. DNR is there in force.
