Default Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, KY/TN

Has anyone ever camped / spent time here?

It's on the way to in-laws house (close enough, anyhow) and we'll be stopping off for a couple of days in April.

I'd never heard of it until the other day, when I found it while looking at maps.

It sounds almost too good to be true....

Any feedback would be welcome.

Never stayed there, but have fished KY Lake a number of times. Bass should be in pre spawn/spawn and will be in the backs of the creeks. Black n blue plastics, and shad colored cranks should do you well.

Didn't expect to be able to fish this trip, due to space constraints.
Now I really want to!

Where'd I store that g*dd*mn pocket fisherman?

There's a drive through park called the Elk and Bison Prairie. 3.5 mile loop over 700 acres. http://www.lbl.org/ebprairiegate.html

I've driven the LBL Trace many times between Paris Tn. and Hwy.68 near Aurora Ky.... Really nice cruise with scenic overlooks and camp sites... Even if you just make the ride, it's worth the extra couple hours...

When I was a kid, we used to camp there every year, sometimes multiple times a year. We used to catch catfish from the bank in the campsite. Last time I was in the area was when I was fishing the Cumberland river for big cats, Jan 2010. Worth driving through, 100% worth visiting. Other guys than me would know a lot more about serious fishing ( Just throwing that out there, I saw you said you probably won't have time to go). Big blue catfish are targeted this time of year, we caught one over 40 lbs when I was there last, lots of guides in the area.

Thanks guys. three nights in one of their cabins at the south end of the park. So we have time to hike and do the buffalo area, and the settler community and a couple of the daily "animal of the day" things and such. Hoping my six year old will love it as much as I think she will.

Glad to hear from a # of you that it's pretty. You can't really get that from the maps.

Maybe a fishing pole and a few lures if space allows.....
