Yep, ya never know Ghost. I've made the decision to pass before only to come up with a goose egg after three days. The worst for me was having to pass on a 150 class 10 point munching on acorns 10 yards broadside from me on opening morning. I was hunting earn a buck in Wisconsin and had to take a doe first. Same thing happened the next year with a nice, big 8 point. But, I too have a pair of beauties I've harvested years ago on public land in Illinois so I'm more particular about what I do and don't shoot opening morning. A nice 11 point and a nearly perfect (symetry-wise) 12 point. Both failed to make Boone and Crockett by less than 5 inches - doh!!!

Commando,

Do you need a hunting buddy? I would be willing to go out with you. I have a small lease ground too. We could swap a hunt!

Ghost, I was thinking the same thing. Theguy was lucky enough to be invited to hunt someone elses property, right?

So lucky he is going to bring a complete stranger out to hunt too?

Now don't get me wrong, a number of years ago I had my hunting buddy get ill, and eventually lose a battle with cancer. There was a guy here on the site many of you may know (even though he doesn't post here anymore?) KingCrazy who was looking for a place to bow hunt. Due to my buddy's condition, and me not liking to hunt alone for a number of reasons, I took Tom in as a hunting partner.

We have been hunting together ever since! My point is my family owns the property, I'm not a guest!

Thanks for all the great info guys. I'll be in the woods this week hoping for one of these guys or a nice Doe to stroll by.

Molocaster,

Thanks for the offer but this spot is for me to enjoy with my daughter and it just wouldn't be right to allow someone else on my buddy's propertry. If I owned it, I would consider your offer.

Best of luck and hope you have a safe hunt!

Glad you have a place to take your kid hunting! Heck, a place just to let them watch the outdoors with you, even if you don't end up shooting a deer!
