Default First Turkey

I was hunting in Michigan a couple weeks ago and was able to shoot this nice turkey. He had a 9.5 inch beard and 1 inch spurs. I would guess the weight to be around 20-25 lbs. Shot him about 10 minutes before legal hunting time ended.

sorry to rain on your parade...sounds like you were hunting after hours.

From the DNR site:

HUNTING HOURS ½ hour before sunrise until 1:00 p.m. during each day of the season.

Here's the link...

Don't be so quick to judge others. I don't recall anyone saying he was hunting in Illinois?

Nice Tom you got there! Congrats!

Hey Huntnfish79,
Though I appreciate the concern for ethical and legal hunting tactics, Captain Jim is correct. I took this turkey in Michigan where you have from sunrise to sunset to hunt. I am originally from Michigan and only live out here to go to school. Thanks for the concern, but it is not waranted in this case.

This is an Illinois site, saw you were from DG, figure it to be an IL turkey. Honest mistake. My bad!

From MIDNR website: (one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour before sunset)

10 minutes before dark is a last minute bird!

CJ-he never said where he killed, I would guarantee that almost eveyone who saw the post assumed IL...even you!

Nice LEGAL bird!
