I've taken a saw to the stock of a shotgun before. Then just rigged up a new padded butt plate over the cut surface. You can buy a youth size stock (for some manufacturers) and just switch them out too, if that is a comfortable length for you.
What kind of shotgun do you have?

I'll send you a PM about trap shooting

I ran into problems on my Wife's Browning Silver. The action spring retaining nut is so close to the butt pad, that they couldn't cut very much off. I think we got around 3/4 inch. Then they had to make a new recoil pad. I think Gander Mountain in Plainfield has a gun smith. Don't know how close that is to you. My Gun Smith isn't open any more.

Not sure how your BPS is made. Remove the recoil pad and see what's in there.
