Default New gun

Daughter turns 15 this week and she I way ready for a new shotgun. Debating between a 870 express and a mossberg 535 for waterfowl. Either way she is ready for a 12 gauge so any suggestions before I drop the dough this week?

870 is pretty hard to beat, used Benelli Nova worth a look too. Mossberg kicks quite a bit in my experience.

Thought about the Nova because I have one. Only thing is it doesn't fit her well. The weight and length of stroke for the pump is a little to much.

Go with a Semi Auto. I grew up on a 870 Wingmaster, once I switched to a semi I thought how did I not do this 20 years earlier. I started my son on a pump and he went to a semi at 10 y/o.

I like my 870, never had a problem with it. Never owned the Mossberg shotgun, but I have never heard any complaints about them either. Both are good functional utility hunting guns.

I picked up a couple of 870 Expresses from BPS last year for two of my boys. Pretty tough to beat their reliability. We shot clays several times - putting 250 rounds through each gun on one occasion with zero jambs. In fact, they've never jammed. Most popular shotgun on the planet for a reason. Personally, I would do the eyes closed shouldering/good fit thingy with several guns and pick the one that fits her the best. (After we found out my one son is left eye dominant) so he's been shooting from his left side getting use to it before we take it to a gunsmith and have the mechanism swapped out so it ejects shells away from his face..

I have both guns-870 and mossberg 535. Both are excellent guns in my opinion. Won't go wrong with either one
