Default Skeet Shooting Places

Hello,

I have been to the Naperville (just re-opened) park district site, any other locations where I can go to do some outdoor skeet or target shooting with my shotgun?

This particular place had just completed a restoration of the shooting grounds gathering up all the lead shot, now they only allow for steel shot to shoot the clay's. Lead shot target loads are a lot cheaper.

Closest place to Naperville I can think of is DesPlaines Conservation Area. Take I-55 south to New River Rd in Wilmington. Fields are about a 1/2 mile west on River Rd.

Hello,

I was shooting this past weekend at Yorkville, No body else was there, so when I exhausted all of my clays, I decided to walk the field to find some unbroken clays and I picked up a few. Not wanting to leave my shotgun in the car, I slung it over my shoulder (strap) and walked the field until i didn't see any more unbroken clays. There was a guy in his car, been watching me shoot, and I was walking back to my car, he got out of his car and mentioned that i shouldn't be walking the field with my gun...He said he was doing the same and was asked to forfeit his shotgun, he had to pay 120 dollars to get it back...There are no signs posted saying you cannot walk the field with your shotgun but he said it is some type of rule that has been in effect for 100 years...anyone else hear about this?...If its true i will remeber not to do this...if not I will continue...thanks in advance...

With or without a gun... they don't want you walking down range at all.

It's been a couple years since I've shot at Silver Springs, but I know DesPlaines has signs posted, prohibiting it.

There is a place to shoot skeet in Glen Ellyn. It may be a private club though. I should know because the place is mentioned in my local paper almost weekly. New residents want to shut it down. Personally, I am astounded by people who move in next to a gun club then complain about the noise

Yeah,it is amazing,I heard the same story about new residents around the Bristol range just past the cheddar curtain. $ went up for dues/daily range fee,but they made a few pre-emptive changes with the $ with safety measures to shut up any whiners.

Didn't the same thing happen to Fox Valley range years ago? I miss that place.
