Default night fishing

any one know where I can launch in the Mchenry area, and leave my truck over night for some night fishing. I want to fish north of the mchenry dam if possible, my grandparents used to own a place right on the river, and guys used to anchor right in front of it and stay out there all night, any help would be awesome!!!!

I forgot to tell you about the http://www.foxwaterway.state.il.us/ website

There are user fees for that section of river. Check out there website before heading out there. The river is sometimes closed during high water periods. This weekend there is a no wake restriction. This is a great time to get out there because 90% of the pleasure boaters and skiers will stay home.
Did you see any police boats out at night?

I didnt see any police all night. I was somewhat worried, thinking we were gonna get kicked out once we got there. Once it got light out, and I didnt see a single boat, thats when I started thinking maybe the river was closed. I have to say it was awesome being out there at night though, I havent fished it at night since I was a kid. It was good to get some time on the water, and avoid the heat.
