Default It's not worth dying for folks....

This is another terrible vehicle through the ice story from Wisconsin. 2 dead 1 critical after truck goes through the ice on Lake Winnebago. Snowmobiles, ATV's, Cars, Trucks, this happens EVERY winter somewhere in Wisconsin. I don't care what kind of ice YOU THINK YOU HAVE, I would NEVER put a vehicle out there. My condolences go to the family and friends of the victims.

That is terrible. Will be praying for the family and friends. A 10 year old girl, that really breaks my heart. I hope the 8 year old recovers.

Yeah, I can't even bear to think about those 2 little girls being in that water for 20-30 minutes. It is heartbreaking. I hope and pray the other one survives with no permanent disabilities but that's a very long time to be in 32 degree water. I don't even want to think about what they went through.

What a shame.
I read all about it on LL.
Having almost drowned twice in my life, I can tell ya, there is no more terrifying experience than to have water close over your head...

Yes it happens and yes it's terrible.

I grew up in WI and my entire life I've been driving on the ice. I continue to drive on the ice when I head up to WI. A good knowledge of the lake and where the channel runs is a must. w/o that you're gambling w/ your life.

There was also another death last week in Superior WI driving out on the St. Louis River.

Although the initial reaction is that driving on the ice is bad, it really is a way of life up north and does not have to involve a death trap if you use extreme caution and make sure you know the lake you are driving on.

It is a way of life up there, I wanted to bring my sons up there and sleep on the ice, I think I'll hold off, Check out how deep the top water is on Lake Poygan and Mr Blue Gill makes it same like no problem...God Bless that family and all involved

It is a way of life but life also goes on underneath the ice as far as currents and other factors. I grew up going out on the ice, driving in cars etc. on Lake WI. Now I only take snowmobiles on there if the ice is fully thick enough...It really doesn't matter if you take every precaution possible - it is still dangerous to be out on the ice and you have absolutely no control over the ice breaking. The only completely safe way is to abstain from going out on the ice at all...
