Default Sturgeon Bay 1/15

Have been wanting to try Sturgeon Bay for a while so we booked a trip with Brett Alexander (http://www.icefishgreenbay.com/). Someone had tried to get a group together on this site earlier in the year so I gave them a try. They really did a great job. They could not have been more accommodating and the equipment was top notch. Everything was supplied from transportation on the ice to an insulated Frabil shanty and heat and bait. Oh yea, and they really put us on the fish. Limited out with 2 guys in about 3 hours after culling a bunch of small ones.

We fished for Whitefish in 55 FOW. They showed us the right technique, since it is different than any fishing I ever did before, and it worked. They even came around with some grilled Whitefish and gave us the recipe. It is excellent! Almost as good as Walleye and no oily taste that I expected.

Here's a couple of Pictures - (I hope)

Maybe after your recent success I will have better luck getting that group together next year..

Nice fish
How many days did you go for?
How were the accommodations at the resort/motel?
Would you do it again?

Glad you had a good time!!! Even thouggh my trip up there this year wasn't the best we still had fun, well as much fun you can have with some slow fishing. I want to get back up there again this year with my old man and get a few more of those critters. I had the ones we caught smoked and they turned out great.

We just went for a day trip. That's 5:30 AM to about 5:30 PM (he took us after Walleye in the evening - included in the basic price)

We stayed at my buddy's condo in Egg Harbor, but Brett said there are clean accommodations starting at $25 a night - yup, that's not a typo - and going up from there. There are a lot of vacancies in Door County in the winter.

I not only would go again, I am going again in Feb. Next time I will just rent a shack instead of the fully guided deal. Now that I know the technique, its a really good deal: up to 4 guys for $150 and they provide transportation, drill the holes, shack and heat. If you have never done Whitefish though, I recommend the fully guided trip the first time.

Awesome! Love the pictures. Looks like a great time. I was going to book a trip during the kid's xmas break, but other things put the kibosh on it. Wish I did after seeing your post. I will definitely do it next year!
