Tried the river again today. Water temp up a little from the last outing. I was reading 47-49 degrees. It was enough to get the white ghosts moving. Even managed one nice hybrid. Fishing stayed consistent most of the day until a huge school of gar showed up and most everything else moved on. All on jigs 1/8oz / plastics. River in good shape nice flow with about a foot of visibility.

Mmmmmm gar balls. Cut then along both sides of the dorsal, fold back the filets and scrape the meat away from the skin with a large spoon. Chop and mix with chopped shrimp, peppers, onions, garlic, and seasoning. Form into a ball and batter and fry or sauté and make a stew.

You won't look at them like trash fish after that.
